Body Positivity in the Wedding Industry: A Styled Shoot With Leah Thomason Photography
When you look through bridal magazines, it’s rare that you find inspiration and representation for curvy and plus-size brides. The body positivity movement has made big strides in the last few years, but the wedding industry is still sadly behind.
That’s why San Antonio photographer Leah Thomason designed the concept for the I Am Radiant Bridal Soiree styled photoshoot. As a photographer, Leah realized that her curvy and plus-size brides didn’t have much inspiration for their wedding photos, so she saw it as her responsibility to provide inspiration for them.
We were so thrilled to partner with her and provide the balloon garlands and streamer backdrops for her styled shoot at One Eleven East in Hutto, Texas. We’re obsessed with how great the streamers look as a backdrop to the beautiful models.
The I Am Radiant Bridal Soiree concept is all about celebrating different body types, which is why the vibrant color palette and eclectic decor that Leah chose are so fitting. She brought in amazing Texas hill country vendors to pull it all together, and it was a day filled with joy, creativity, and purpose.
You can see all of the photos and a complete vendor list on Leah’s website. We can’t get over how the stunning florals from Fielding Florals perfectly matched our streamer backdrop.
At Pop & Drop, we encourage all wedding vendors to be more inclusive of all body types, especially with styled shoots. If you’re a local vendor looking to put together a purpose-driven styled shoot, we would love to work together, so feel free to reach out.
