How we stay environmentally friendly
In a world of metal straws and electric cars, it would be naïve of us not to be mindful of our environment. As an Austin-based team, it’s important that we keep our community clean and sustainable. Having that mindset in our personal lives is one thing, but we like to maintain that reputation through our work as well! With the speediness of Amazon and instant gratification of buying something on the fly with little research, how can we be sure that we’re eco-friendly and still create jaw-dropping installations? As a company, we’re committed to maintaining our standard in delivering quality work at no cost to the environment. Check out the three things we focus on to keep the Earth loving us:
1. Research. When it comes to our installs, we control our value by knowing where exactly the install is going to be, what supplies we need, and which materials to purchase. It’s important for us to know exactly how the installation will be displayed so we can use our equipment to assemble the install or if we need to purchase anything new.
For our balloon installations, we don’t order the first thing we find on a simple Google search. We took our time in researching top of the line products that are also 100% latex and 100% sustainable. Our latex balloons are made from the sap of a rubber tree and decompose at about the same rate as an oak leaf.
Our Clients can rest easy knowing that our balloons used for installations are environmentally friendly are disposed of properly.
2. Reuse and recycle. As a small business, it’s important for us to reuse our materials and supplies when we can. If the client wants to keep our install past the event, we do advise them to reuse it as well. One of the most wasteful balloon services that exist are balloon releases, which we decided as a company that we would not do. Helium balloons used for releases not only use up Earth’s depleting helium supply, they also end up in rivers and oceans potentially thousands of miles away. We make it a priority to properly dispose and recycle the popped balloons. After we tear down an install we do not throw away any materials that can be repurposed. While the majority of our streamer installations are made from plastic, we’re able to use them for many events, and shy away from single-use plastic. By using metal ties or recycling plastic zip ties, we’re able to consistently reuse the streamers.
3. Carpool to events. When you get an install from us, don’t be surprised if you see two or three people get out of one car. It may seem like a small step in being environmentally friendly, but our team carpools unless two cars are absolutely necessary, and it does make a difference. Our team may live relatively close to each other, which helps, but we also want to be environmentally conscious when physically putting together your install. Our awareness does not just pertain to the supplies and materials of the install, but for the work that’s put in to help your vision come to life! We’re firm believers in working smarter not harder, which is how we’re able to be eco-friendly heading to and from events.
Living in an environmentally-savvy city absolutely helps when it comes to finding resources on taking proper measures to keep our installs sustainable. But when it comes to our installs, the creativity isn’t coming from the supplies we use but from the team that uses it.
